Things you should bring to Australia

Deciding what to pack for Australia can be daunting. Nonetheless, there are certain items you shouldn't overlook. Below, we have compiled a list of essentials to bring and the reasons why they're important.

Things you should definitely pack in your suitcase

Sunscreen

The sun is very strong in Australia and most Australians wear sunscreen everyday.

It is recommended that you get a Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB and apply it in the morning and after lunch.

If you are swimming you should apply it more frequently.

Bathers (Swimmers) & Beach Towel

If you love the ocean then we recommend you pack at least 2 pairs of bathers. Even if you can't swim, you will most likely be invited to the beach or pool with your family or friends.

Slides (Sandals)

It is convenient to slip them on if going outside to hang the washing, or to put on if you are going to the beach etc.

Hat

Even in winter the sun can be very strong and you can easily get sun stroke without a hat.

Lip Balm with Sunscreen

Just like your skin, your lips can also get burnt easily.

Make sure to pack some protective lip balm, or you can easily buy some when you arrive.

Insect Repellant

Flys and mosquitos are very annoying in Australia.

While it is possible to buy insect repellant easily in Australia, if you have one that you like we suggest you bring that.

Water Bottle

Soft drinks and even water are expensive to buy and most Australians carry a water bottle with them everyday.

We suggest buying a large water bottle that will keep your drinks cold for at least 24hrs.

Sunglasses

Almost all adult Australians own at least 1 pair of sunglasses.

Sometimes the sunlight is so bright that you can end up with a headache if you don't wear them.

If you wear glasses fulltime we recommend getting a pair of sunglasses made for you before you come.
